Information for Tenants
How do I get a property through the RDGS?
You must be 18 years of age and over and have been resident in the area for at least six months and be threatened with homelessness. You must also be in priority need for housing. This means you must fall within one of the following categories:
- Have dependent children.
- Vulnerable due to:
- Old age
- Mental illness
- Physical disability
- Fleeing violence
- Having been released from long term custody or detention.
- Having been released from being in the armed forces or former care leaver.
- Being homeless or threatened with homelessness as a result of emergency such as flood, fire or other disaster.
Being homeless in itself does not make you vulnerable. If you are able to raise the deposit yourself, or from your friends and relatives, then you will not be eligible for our help.
How do I apply?
If you think you may be eligible, please speak to your housing or homelessness officer who will discuss your options and help you fill out an application if necessary.
You will be required to attend an interview, provide the names of two references per adult in the family unit, proof of income and three months bank statements.
