Is your name included on the Register of Electors?
In order to vote in elections your name must be included on the Register of Electors. If you are unsure if you are on the Register please ring 01494 732014 or email elections.csb@buckinghamshire.gov.uk
If you are not registered, you may do so at any time.
Who can register?
Anyone eligible aged 16 or over (you cannot vote until you are 18)
British or qualifying Commonwealth citizens
Citizens of the Republic of Ireland or other
European Union (EU) member states
Why should I register?
Registering to vote gives you a say on important issues that affect you. If you are not on the Electoral Register, you can't vote. By voting you are expressing your choice about your elected representatives for local, national and European government. Registering to vote does not mean you have to vote, it just means you can if you want to.
If you are not on the Electoral Register you may have difficulty in obtaining credit which could impact on applications for mortgages, credit cards, mobile phones, etc.
I live in two locations, where do I register?
You can register vote in more than one location provided that you usually reside at the property e.g. you are a student with a home and term time address. You can only vote once in any election.

I have just registered to vote. How long before I appear on the Electoral Register?
Updates to the electoral register are carried out on a monthly basis, and are published on a notice of alteration. The deadlines for registering to vote in time for these updates are shown below. Different deadlines are in place just before an election, and these will be displayed on our website. Notices of alteration are not published in October, November or December when the annual canvass is being carried out. If you are applying for credit during the annual canvass and your electoral register status is not being reflected on your credit report lenders can still check other information held on your credit report, such as where your credit accounts are held. Lenders are aware of the Annual Canvass and therefore will take other information into consideration when assessing a credit application. If you require written confirmation of your registration to vote please contact us.
