Heathrow Expansion

On 25 October 2016 the government announced its support for a new northwest runway at Heathrow.

The potential expansion of Heathrow would have an impact on local communities, and the government has been clear that a world-class package of measures should be put in place to support them.

Heathrow expansion update - May 2020

The work on the expansion of Heathrow is currently on hold by Heathrow Airports Limited (HAL). This is a direct result of the Appeal Court decision in February 2020 and the Covid-19 lockdown that has dramatically impacted on the volume of global air travel by passengers. It is currently unclear when work will recommence on the expansion project. For further information, please follow the links at the bottom of the page.
