New Building Control charges that will come into effect on the 1 April 2020 for Buckinghamshire Council

With effect from 1 April 2020, authorised by the Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010, Statutory Instrument 2010 No. 404

The Charges are Payable as Follows:

If you submit a Full Plans application, you will need to pay the plan charge at the time of the submission. For some types of work, an inspection charge covering all necessary site visits will also be payable after our first inspection.

If you submit a Building Notice application, the whole charge will need to be paid at time of the submission. This fee will cover all necessary checks and visits.

VAT at a rate of 20% is payable on all charges except for regularisations. All fees quoted on this form are inclusive of VAT.

If you apply for a Regularisation Certificate for building work that has already taken place and started on or after 11 November 1985, you will need to pay a regularisation fee.

Additional Inspections:
If further visits are necessary due to the complexity of work, aborted visits or re-inspection of corrective work, an additional charge may be applied.

Multiple Pieces of Work:
In general, if your project has multiple aspects of work (eg a Garage Conversion and an Extension), the fees for these pieces of works should be added together. However, in some cases, a reduction in the fees can be arranged for multiple aspects of work. This must be arranged before an application is submitted so please contact us as soon as possible to discuss.

Exemptions:
Certain works to provide access and/or facilities for disabled people to existing dwellings and buildings to which the public have access, may be exempt from charges. In the scheme a 'disabled person' means a person who is within any of the descriptions of persons to whom section 29 (1) of the National Assistance Act 1948 applies (as amended). Proof of this may be requested to exempt any fees.

Method of Payment:

  • Payment can also be made by credit or debit card following receipt of your application. You will need to quote the card number, expiry date, security number and the house number and the post code of where the card is registered. We do not accept American Express.
  • All cheques for Building Control applications must be made payable to 'Buckinghamshire Council' regards of the site address. (Please note - cheques made out to a District Council will be returned).
  • On-line applications paid via WebPay .
