Electric Vehicles - Driving you Forward

About Electric Vehicles

People who use electric vehicles do not have to pay car tax, a congestion or 'T' charge. Many electric chargepoints are free to use. Energy costs start from just 2p a mile, which means that savings for every 10,000 miles driven would be around £1,000.

There are already more charging points than filling stations in London, and there are at least 6,000 public chargepoints across the UK, and these are increasing every day!

To improve the UK's air quality, light petrol or diesel vehicles will not be produced from 2040. This means eventually swapping to an electric vehicle.

Grants for electric and hybrid vehicles

A wide range of electric and hybrid vehicles are eligible for a grant under the Governments Electric Vehicles Homecharge Scheme. You can save up to 35% from the purchase price of a new vehicle to a maximum of £4,500. For more information go to the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles

Grants for Charging at Work

The Workplace Charging Scheme provides support towards the up-front costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle chargepoints at work (public, private, charitable).  For an application form go to Workplace Charging Scheme Application.

Grants for Charging at Home

To help you 'plug-in' at home, you can offset some of the cost of the purchase and installation of an electric vehicle chargepoint. For further guidance go to Homecharge Scheme Guidance.
