Sustainable Travel Sticker
Did you know? Active travel to school makes children more alert and ready to face the school day. Walking, cycling or scooting to school wakes up the mind and body.
This sticker is designed to teach the children about journey planning and its potential effects on the environment.
The class will need to have completed the New Journey - New School, New Choices lesson 2 - Journey Planning in order to obtain a sticker.
This lesson includes recommendations and coping strategies for when things don't go according to plan (for example children missing their bus) and advice on practicing their journey before they start their new school in September.
To demonstrate that the children have taken on board the messages of this lesson they will then have to calculate their carbon footprint based upon their current journey to school and compare this with their carbon footprint after travelling to school sustain ably for a week.
