Revitalisation Groups

Community and Leisure

A number of Revitalisation Groups operate in towns and villages within the Chiltern Area.

These community led groups are independent of the Council and well valued in terms of the work that they do and the outcomes they achieve.  They provide a forum and focus for regeneration projects which improve the quality of life for residents in their communities.

Each group strives to provide a spectrum of views & interests and include representatives of businesses and residents organisations, social and cultural organisations, older people and younger people, faith organisations, Parish & Town Councils and Local Councillors.

Each group devises projects which aim to contribute to the social, economic and environmental development of their communities.  They also lead a Market Town Health Check to identify areas of need & large scale projects for which funding is essential.

At this time projects being developed include:

Amersham Old Town:  Tree  planting;  Gore Hill  children's play area;  older people action group; projects addressing speeding and parking issues.

Amersham on the Hill: Town centre floral decorations; amenity signage;  business &  community events, Christmas Festival; monitors planning applications;  town centre planning.

Amersham Action Group

Chalfont St Giles and Jordans:  Volunteer run visitor information centre & library; guide to historic buildings; community festivals; youth club.

Chalfont St Peter: Heritage exhibition; clean up the River Misbourne;  youth club; community safety & older peoples projects;  World War One commemorations & peace garden project.

Chesham: Chesham Connect is the revitalisation group for Chesham and Greater Chesham; providing advice, financial assistance and encouragement to community groups and businesses, working to develop and improve the area for all who live and work here, and to increase visitor numbers to the town.

Current projects include; Chesham Station Garden, Chiltern Voice local radio, Walkers are Welcome and Christmas in Chesham evening. Further information at Chesham Connect  which also has the What's on Around Chesham community calendar.

Great Missenden & Prestwood: Great Missenden and Prestwood Revitalisation Group,.incorporating Ballinger, South Heath and Heath End.

Current projects include the Community vision update, secure bike parking, the revitalisation of Prestwood Village and the community's  response to HS2.
