Cardboard
This can be recycled by putting in your black box or you can take it to local recycling centres.
Carrier Bags Try to avoid using carrier bags altogether by using a canvas bag instead. Many supermarkets offer a 'bag for life' scheme. Some of the bags cost as little as 10p and when they're worn out they will be replaced free of charge. Plastic bags can be re-used in the home as pedal-bin liners, this saves you having to buy bags. If you still have too many bags, some supermarkets (Somerfield, Sainsbury and Tesco) are now providing bag recycling facilities on site. They are melted down and turned into low-grade plastic items such as street name plates and plastic benches.
Christmas trees
We do collect these from households - check nearer time to check when the collection is in your area. These can also be recycled at your local Household Waste and Recycling Centre. If it is a tall tree, cut it down so that it will fit into a bin.
