Adjusting text size

All modern browsers have controls to adjust text size and by using these you will not have to alter the settings on each website you visit.

Follow the instructions below to adjust your web browser.

Internet Explorer 6 - Select View > Text Size
Internet Explorer 7 - Select Page > Text size
Firefox - Select View > Text Size
Opera - Select View > Zoom
Safari - Select View > Make Text Bigger/Smaller

Adjusting screen Size

Screen resolution dictates just how large everything appears on the screen and larger resolutions can mean that web pages do not fit on your screen. 

To alter your resolution follow the instructions below.

 PCs

Under the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
Click on Display.
Click on the Setting tab.
Slide the bar in the Desktop Area to select a screen resolution.
Click on the Test button to preview the size of your screens.
Click OK in the pop-up box.
Click the OK button.

Macs

Under the Apple menu, select Control Panels > Monitors.
Click on the Monitor button.
Under Resolution, select the number of pixels.

Text Contrast

Certain users may need to alter the default combination of black text on a white or light green background that is used on the Chiltern website. If necessary, the combination of background and text colour can be controlled in the following way:

Internet Explorer

Select "Tools" then "Internet Options" from the menu at the top of your browser.

Press the "Accessibility" button and check the box marked "Ignore Colours Specified on Web Pages". Press "OK".

From the "Internet Options" box, press the "Colours" button

Select the required colour scheme, press "OK" here, and then again on the "Internet Options" box.

Mozilla Firefox 1.0

Select "Tools" then "Options" from the menu at the top of your browser

Click the "Font and Colours" button and uncheck the box marked "Use system colours"

Select the required colour scheme and press "OK"

Netscape 7.1

Select "Edit" then "Preferences" from the menu at the top of your browser

Expand the "Appearance" category in the left hand section of the dialog box

Check the box marked "Use my chosen colours...." Select the required colour scheme and click "OK"
