Your vote matters

Register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Is your name included on the Registers of Electors?

In order to vote in elections your name must be included on the Register of Electors. If you are unsure if you are on the Register please ring 01494 732014 or e-mail elections@chiltern.gov.uk

If you are not registered, you may do so at any time.

Who can register?

  • Anyone eligible aged 16 or over (you cannot vote until
    you are 18).
  • British or qualifying Commonwealth citizens.
  • Citizens of the Republic of Ireland or other
    European Union (EU) member states.

Why should I register?

Registering to vote gives you a say on important issues that affect you. If you are not on the Electoral Register, you can't vote.  By voting you are expressing your choice about your elected representatives for local, national and European government. Registering to vote does not mean you have to vote, it just means you can if you want to.

If you are not on the Electoral Register you may have difficulty in obtaining credit which could impact on applications for mortgages, credit cards, mobile phones, etc.
