Core Strategy
Draft Document (June 2009)
The Council has now agreed a draft of the Core Strategy for Chiltern District, after considering an extensive evidence base that has been gathered by the Council since 2004, and also after taking account of relevant National and Regional policies. At this stage, whilst the strategy is now substantially decided, it is necessary to carry out further detailed discussions with those key stakeholders who are most likely to be able to help us deliver the approved strategy. This is in order to ensure that it is both achievable and deliverable and to estimate when delivery of the different strands of the strategy may occur. We will also be continuing a dialogue that is ongoing with those stakeholders most affected by the proposed changes.
At this stage we are not carrying out another widespread public consultation, but rather we are focussing on a more detailed dialogue with just a few key stakeholders with a view to progressing some, as yet unresolved matters. These detailed discussions will take place between June 2009 and late autumn 2009 and any necessary changes that will aid delivery of the Core Strategy will be incorporated into the draft. In January 2010 once the Core Strategy has been finalised it will be published and there will be a further opportunity for public representations to be made. These will be sent to an independent Inspector who will consider the overall content of the Strategy, assess its soundness and set out the final form of the document.
