Cyber Attack Information

The effects of the 'WannaCry' cyber-attack on Friday 12th May 2017 have been widely publicised. Understandably, some residents may be concerned that the private data they have shared with the Council may have been compromised.

We would like to reassure you that this Council takes its information management duties very seriously by:

  • Ensuring that only currently supported ICT systems e.g. version of Windows are used and that they are kept patched up to recommended levels

  • Deploying anti-malware systems that are constantly polled and updated by the suppliers to make our ICT networks as resistant to attack as is possible

  • Taking backups of our data after every working day

  • Ensuring that our staff are trained to handle your data securely

We are happy to report that no security breaches as a result of the recent 'WannaCry' cyber-attack have occurred at this Council.
