This page provides some basic Information about the ground conditions etc in the CDC area

     

SOIL CONDITIONS 

The area has a range of soil conditions but is predominantly clay of a Medium shrinkable nature. Both high and low shrinkable clays may also be found as well as hogging and chalk. Contact the Office or Area Surveyor for more Information.




RADON

Some areas of the District are known to be affected by the gas Radon for which special precautions are required. Additional technical guidance on this issue can be obtained by contacting the Area Surveyor. The form of protection required is usually very simple and in essence requires the floor area including walls of the proposed new building or extension to be sealed against gas penetration at ground level. This includes the cavities of any wall.

DRAINAGE

There are no combined drainage systems within the area. It will be necessary to run the rainwater drainage to a suitable location  , be it a soakaway , bore hole etc. For technical guidance on this matter please contact the Building Control Office.
