Is your name included in the register of Electors?
In order to vote in elections your name must be included in the Register of Electors. If you are unsure if you are included in the Register it is a simple matter to check.
Please ring 01494 732014 or e-mail elections@chiltern.gov.uk
If you are not registered, you may do so at any time. During the period January to September the Register is updated each month by a process known as 'Rolling Registration' and in the October-December period a complete new register is prepared following a household canvass in which everyone is reminded of their legal obligation to register.
Who can register?
- Anyone eligible aged 16 or over (you cannot vote until
you are 18) - British or qualifying Commonwealth citizens
- Citizens of the Republic of Ireland or other
European Union (EU) member states.
Why should I register?
Registering to vote gives you a say on important issues that affect you. If you are not on the Electoral Register, you can't vote. By voting you are expressing your choice about your elected representatives for local, national and European government. Registering to vote does not mean you have to vote, it just means you can if you want to. If you are not on the Elector Register you may have difficulty in obtaining credit which could impact on applications for mortgages, credit cards, mobile phones, etc.
Below are a number of different application forms relating to the Register of Electors. If you are unsure which form you need to complete or need additional help please contact Electoral Services (elections@chiltern.gov.uk) 01494 732014
