Absent Vote

Absent Vote Signature Refresh

Absent Voters (those registered to vote by post) are required to provide a signature and date of birth when they first apply.

When we send out ballot papers for elections to postal voters, they are again required to provide their signature and date of birth.  This is then checked against the original application to ensure they match.  This helps to stop voting fraud. It does NOT mean the vote can be identified.

At the end of January, all Absent Voters whose signature is more than 5 years old were required to provide a fresh signature. We wrote to those persons concerned to request a new signature.
